An Analysis of the Confucian Ethic Discourse in Political Narratives of Song Dynasty's Poetry Talks
Political narratives are common carriers and primary means for Confucianism to establish ideal personalities, interpret social justice, and educate the general populace. They can be regarded as the fundamental venues for displaying Confucian ethics. The political narratives in Song Dynasty's poetry talks may seem scattered and disorganized, but they are actually poetic representations of this mainstream concept, and they converge into three main discourse bodies:personal ethics, justice ethics, and poetic education ethics. These demonstrate the Song Dynasty's interpretation of Confucian ethics in their era.Compared with official mainstream discourses, the political narratives in Song Dynasty's poetry talks do not deviate from historical facts but possess greater dissemination power. This not only reflects the stylistic characteristics of poetry talks composed according to the logic of dissemination but also helps to expand the political cognition of the intellectual elite circle, deepen the ethical consciousness of the audience, and provides a typical sample and discourse support for the ideological construction of the Song Dynasty.
