Detection and analysis methods of Cryptosporidium in water environments and distribution characteristics
This study reviews and summarizes the relevant technical methods for Cryptosporidium isolation and purification, concentration detection, species identification, viability assessment, and infectivity evaluation in water environment samples, focusing on the oocyst structure,species/genotypes,and waterborne transmission pathways. The study also compiles the advantages, disadvantages, and applicability of these methods.Based on the analysis data of Cryptosporidium from 2 667 water environment samples across 60 regions nationwide, the study systematically reviews the occurrence and distribution characteristics, such as detection rates and concentrations,of Cryptosporidium in different regions and types of water bodies in China. The results indicate significant differences in the occurrence characteristics of Cryptosporidium in different regions and water body types, with an overall detection rate as high as 32.8%,highlighting a major public health risk that cannot be overlooked.
