With the hydropower development in China entering a new stage,the dam safety management is becoming important increasingly. According to the current situation of dam safety management in vari-ous countries,this study briefly summarizes the laws and regulations of dam management in developed countries,including Switzerland,Sweden,Canada and the United States,and deeply analyzes the dam safety management modes. This study also summarizes and analyzes the dam operation management sys-tem in China,clarifies the tasks and responsibilities of relevant parties,and explains the safety registra-tion and regular inspection system of hydropower dams in China. Through the comparison of dam safety management modes at home and abroad,this study concludes that the Chinese plan of dam safety mod-ernization management is in line with basic national conditions.
