LEAKAGE ANALYSIS OF DE-HEAVY FRACTIONATOR IN GLYCOL COUPLING PLANT AND TECHNICAL REFORMATION
The corrosion leakage happened during the operation of de-heavy fractionator and the related technical reformation were described. The wall of the column was originally designed to have half liner made of titanium. The silver brazing at the joint of stainless steel and titanium material was corroded by nitric acid causing leakage.A revamping was made to use the total carbon steel column with titanium liner. However the titanium liner at the top of the column once again was corroded by organic acid and subject to hydrogen embrittlement leading to corrosion and crack. After coupon corrosion test, the material selection plan for the fractionator was finally determined. The reformation was carried on to eliminate the hidden trouble of corrosion leakage.
