Research on the Impact and Mechanism of Digital Economy on the New Quality Productive Forces of Agriculture
The new quality productive forces of agriculture are the key force in promoting the modernization of Chinese agriculture and rural areas,as well as in building a strong agricultural nation.The rapid rise of the digital economy has provided strong momentum for its development.This study used panel data from 30 provinces in China from 2012 to 2022.Regression analysis shows that the development of the digital economy significantly contributes to improving new quality productive forces in rural areas.However,further quantile regression analysis reveals a bottleneck in this contribution.After dividing these 30 provinces into eastern,central and western regions,the promotion effect of digital economy development on rural new quality productive forces is found to be more pronounced in the less economically developed western regions.The mediating variable model reveals that science and technology innovation is an important mediator for the digital economy in promoting the improvement of rural revitalisation quality.Therefore,the digital economy should be strengthened,and scientific and technological innovation should be promoted,to ensure the digital economy play a key role in the high-quality development of new quality productive forces in agriculture,providing strong support for comprehensive rural revitalization.
