Expansion and Decomposition of Regional Economic Resilience and Its Application:A Case Study of the Yangtze River Delta
With the advent of the resilience era, regional economic resilience and its components have gained considerable attention, while its measurement and decomposition methods present significant research challenges.Building on Martin's decomposition of regional economic resilience into industrial structure resilience and competitiveness resilience components, this paper employed the Esteban-Marquillas model developed by using deviation-share analysis,to further decompose regional economic resilience into industrial structure resilience, net competitiveness resilience and distributed resilience components.Using the Yangtze River Delta, the most economically active region in China,as a case study, this paper measured and decomposed the economic resilience of local cities during 1993-2019.Compared to existing methods, this decomposition provides a new tool for deconstructing regional economic resilience, enabling fine-grained analysis and precise implementation of interventions of enhance resilience.
