The New Quality Productive Forces of Enterprises and the Upgrading of Human Capital Structure
This paper, based on data from Shanghai and Shenzhen A-share listed companies in China's strategic emerging industries from 2012 to 2022,examined the impact of new quality productive forces on the structure of human capital. The findings reveal that the development of new quality productive forces significantly promotes the upgrading of the human capital structure. This positive effect is more pronounced in labor-intensive enterprises, those with high levels of corporate governance, and those located in regions with advanced technology finance.Mechanism analysis indicates that enterprises enhance the human capital structure by increasing fixed asset investment and R&D expenditures.Cash flow volatility and regional innovation levels act as moderators, with the former negatively and the latter positively influencing the relationship between new quality productive forces and human capital structure upgrading.Further analysis shows that the development of new quality productive forces also contributes to enhancing enterprise value, improving total factor productivity, and increasing green innovation, while simultaneously reducing sulfur dioxide and PM2.5 emissions in the cities where the enterprises are located. These findings highlight significant environmental benefits.
