This study utilized data from Shanghai and Shenzhen A-share listed companies from 2016 to 2023 as research samples to examine the impact of ESG practices on innovation quality and the mediating role of risk-taking behavior.The findings demonstrate that proactive ESG practices contribute to the improvement of enterprise innovation quality,with risk-taking levels playing a partial mediating role.Further analysis reveals that the positive impact of ESG practices on innovation quality is more pronounced in enterprises operating in highly marketized regions and non-high-tech industries.Different dimensions of ESG practices exhibit varying effects,with social responsibility and corporate governance significantly driving high-quality innovation.Moreover,ESG practices not only enhance the efficiency of enterprise innovation but also significantly improve its sustainability.
