Effect of tooth surface rust on the quality of gear phosphating
Gear phosphating is a commonly used surface treatment for gears. The failure phenomenon of gear tooth breaking and tooth surface peeling occurred during the ultimate performance test and dura-bility test of a certain type of transmission after phosphating.Through macroand micro morphology test,it was found that the tooth surface has pits with a diameter of above 50 μm and depth of 50 μm.Through on-site investigation and subsequent experimental analysis in the factory,it was determined that corrosion occurred during the gear transferring process, and pitting on the tooth surface, which were then retained during the phosphating process, and ultimately leaded to failure in the gear test.
