Synthesis and properties of silane-modified epoxy phenylpropylene emulsions
Using silane coupling agent KH-560 and epoxy E-51,a new type of silane-modified epoxy phenylpropylene emulsion was prepared by modifying traditional phenylpropylene emulsion with silicone and epoxy resin through seed emulsion polymerization, and the effects of process conditions on the properties of emulsion and coating film properties were explored. The results show that when the amount of emulsifier is 6.5%,the ratio of hard and soft monomer is 1.6∶1,the amount of epoxy resin E-51 is 5%,and the amount of silane coupling agent KH-560 is 10%,the new silane-modified epoxy phenylpropylene emulsion has higher solid content and conversion rate of 43.75%and 87.5%,respectively,and lower gel rate and water absorption rate of 0.98%and 71.43%,respectively.The appearance of the emulsion is milky white with obvious blue phase, and the stability of the emulsion is good. The modification mechanism of silane coupling agent KH-560 and epoxy resin E-51 on phenylpropylene emulsion was initially investigated.
