The article used Russian infinitely podding habit branching soybean variety Лидия and sub-finite podding habit, main stem soybean variety Персона as experimental materials, and five planting densities of 250 000,400 000,550 000,700 000 and 850 000 plants/ha were set to study the effects of different planting densities on the agronomic traits and yield of two different soybean varieties under flat cropping conditions. The results showed that the agronomic traits and yield of different soybean varieties, such as Лидия and Персона,were significantly affected by planting density, and showed similar trends with increasing planting density.Among them, the plant height and bottom pod height showed an increasing trend with the increase of planting density; The number of effective branches, number of main stem nodes, number of pods per plant, number of grains per plant, and hundred grain weight all showed a decreasing trend with increasing planting density; The yield showed a trend of first increasing and then decreasing with the increase of planting density.Under flat cropping conditions, the suitable planting density for the infinitely podding habit branching soybean variety Лидия was 550 000 plants/ha,and the maximum yield could reach 2.51 t/ha;The suitable planting density for the soybean variety Персона with sub-finite podding habit, main stem was 400 000 plants/ha,and the maximum yield could reach 2.47 t/ha.
