Practice and Inspiration of the Sustainable Development of the World Athletics
In 2020, the World Athletics (WA) set out the strategy for its sustainable development in the next ten years, with the vision of becoming an international sports federation that can deliver the best sustainable events and being the leader of its kind. Firstly, this paper studies and sorts out the background, content and significance of the strategy for the sustainable development of the WA, introduces two tools for the WA to practice the principle of sustainable development: the Sustainable Event Management System and the Standard of Athletics for a Better World. Then, it explores the experience and achievements of both the WA and the local organizing committee in the practice of promoting sustainable development with the 2023 Budapest World Athletics Championships as an example. Finally, it summarizes the impact and inspiration of the international experience of the WA on the sustainable development of athletics in China.
