Experiment Research on Regulating the Depression and Sleep of College Students with Baduanjin Exercise
Objective:To discuss the effect of Baduanjin Exercise on college students' depressive symptom and sleep quality. Method:152 students were randomly divided into an experimental group and a control group with 76 students each. The experimental group took Baduanjin Exercise,and the control group took other physical education courses except Baduanjin Eexercise,with the duration of 5 months,18 weeks. Results showed that in terms of depressive symptoms,the score of the patient health questionnaire (PHQ) in the experimental group that took Baduanjin Exercise significantly reduced after exercise,showing that Baduanjin Exercise could effectively improve depression mood,and that the PHQ score of the experimental group did not change significantly.In terms of sleep quality,200 students were randomly divided into the experimental group and the control group with 100 students each. The experimental group took Baduanjin Exercise,and the control group took other physical education courses except Baduanjin Exercise,with the duration of 5 months,18 weeks. The score of the Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI) in the experimental group also significantly decreased (P<0.01) after exercise,showing that Baduanjin Exercise could significantly improve sleep quality,while the PSQI score of the control group showed no significant difference (P>0.05). In summary,as a traditional Chinese fitness method,Baduanjin Exercise has a positive effect on improving the mental health and sleep quality of college students. The regular practice of Baduanjin Exercise can help students relieve academic pressure and improve their quality of life.
