Simulation analysis and experimental study on electrical conductivity of the contact part of fixed lap joint in distribution switchgear under the influence of silver coating with different properties
[Introduction]The electrical conductivity of the fixed lap joint in distribution switchgear is an important parameter to ensure the reliable operation of switchgear. In order to improve the conductivity of fixed lap joint, its contact part is usually plated with silver. However, there is few research on the effects of the properties of silver coating i.e.thickness,surface roughness, and hardness on the electrical conductivity of fixed lap joint. It is urgent to develop a reasonable design standard.[Method]A three-dimensional multi-physical field coupling model was established by finite element method to study the dependence of the electrical conductivity of the contact part of the fixed lap joint of busbar in a distribution switchgear on the thickness, surface roughness, and hardness of the silver coating electroplated on it and further being coated with electric grease. The simulation results were verified experimentally using some specimens with the same size as the product.[Result]The electrical conductivity could be improved by plating with silver on the contact part of fixed lap joint. Both surface roughness and hardness of silver coating have a certain influence on the electrical conductivity of contact part, while the thickness of silver coating has little effect on the electrical conductivity of contact part. The conductivity of fixed lap joint can be improved significantly by coating with electric grease further.[Conclusion]This research provides a theoretical basis and experimental reference for the standardized design of Ag coating on electrical contact part of fixed lap joint.
