Effect of the blending with fluorosilicone resin on properties of transparent and hydrophobic coating
[Introduction]A hydrophobic coating with high light transmittance and excellent mechanical properties was prepared by blending fluorosilicone resin(FSi),which has low surface energy and good weather resistance, with bisphenol A type epoxy acrylic resin(EPA)or E51-type epoxy resin as binders. The effects of the proportions of different resins on the properties of coating were discussed.[Method]The properties and surface morphology of the coating were examined by using scanning electron microscope, contact angle measuring instrument,ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometer,pull-off adhesion tester, and pencil hardness tester.[Result]The properties of coating were affected with the increasing of the amount of FSi resin. The combination of FSi and E51 resins was better than that of FSi and EPA resins. The coating prepared at a FSi-to-E51 mass ratio of 1:1 featured an adhesion strength of 6.16 MPa,a pencil hardness of 3H,a water contact angle of 124.98°,a transmittance higher than 70%in the wavelength range of visible light, and a water absorption rate as low as 3%to 6%.Its weight loss is the smallest among the tested coatings after wear test, and its water contact angle maintained at about 105°.[Conclusion]The combination of fluorosilicone resin and epoxy-based resin as binders improves the properties of transparent and hydrophobic coating, which has a good application prospect.
