Chemical polishing of GH625 nickel-based superalloy
[Introduction]Chemical polishing is one of the key steps in chemical milling of superalloys, which can remove microscopically uneven defects on their surfaces, enabling the superalloys to meet the high-quality surface requirements of aerospace, petrochemical, and other fields.[Method]The effects of the composition of polishing solution and process parameters on the material removal rate and surface roughness of GH625 superalloy were studied by orthogonal test and single-factor experiments.[Result]The composition of polishing solution and process parameters for chemical polishing of GH625 superalloy were optimized as follows:chloride acid 100 g/L,nitric acid 170 g/L,hydrofluoric acid 90 g/L,Fe3+ 170 g/L,temperature 50 ℃,time 5 min,and horizontal placement of specimens in polishing solution. After being chemically polished under the optimized conditions, the surface of GH625 superalloy became smooth, uniform, and bright, and its surface roughness Ra was decreased from 10.3 μm initially to 1.1 μm.[Conclusion]This research provides a reference for chemical polishing of GH625 superalloy.
