Preparation and properties of an inorganic silicon-based anticorrosive paint
[Introduction]The problems of current silicon-based inorganic paint such as poor water resistance, occurrence of peeling and cracking usually during curing, poor resistance to dry scrubbing after application, and short service life are urgently to be solved.[Method]A silicon-based inorganic anticorrosion paint was prepared with potassium silicate, silica sol,and acrylic emulsion as the main film-forming materials in combination with titania and graphene as fillers and some suitable auxiliary agents. The stability of high-modulus potassium silicate solution, the selection of auxiliary agents, and the effects of the amounts of film-forming materials and pigment/fillers on the properties of the paint were discussed.[Result]The paint does not contain free formaldehyde, mercury, cadmium, and other heavy metals with low VOC(volatile organic compound)content and has excellent storage stability, corrosion resistance, flame retardancy, water resistance, alkali resistance, impact resistance, etc.[Conclusion]It resolves the shortcomings of traditional inorganic silicate paint, and meets the relevant standards of interior and exterior wall paints for buildings.
