[Introduction]The stripping of cadmium and nickel from high strength steels is often carried out with ammonium nitrate solution and sulfuric acid, respectively, which not only has safety risk but also may lead to hydrogen embrittlement and decline in fatigue strength of the substrates. The use of strong acid solution in derusting of medium and high strength steels before electroplating may also cause hydrogen embrittlement, directly affecting the product quality. Therefore, there is an urgent need to find some environmentally friendly and safe processes as substitutes.[Method]The feasibility of applying WNK-S20 stripper and WNK-798 derusting agent for aviation parts was studied.Their treatment effectiveness was compared with the traditional stripping solutions and hydrochloric acid derusting.[Result]Both WNK-S20 and WNK-798 are safe, environmentally friendly, low hydrogen embrittlement, and free of corrosion.[Conclusion]Both WNK-S20 and WNK-798 have good application prospects in the field of surface treatment for aviation parts.
