[Introduction]The feasibility of using natural gas to produce Jianzhan,a black-glazed tea ware, was studied.[Method]The burning process of Jianzhan was studied by developing a novel natural gas firing process and kiln. The control of burning temperature and reducing atmosphere,as well as the effect of glazing process on the surface texture of Jianzhan were analyzed.[Result]1 200 to 1 250 ℃ is the key stage for the formation of"oil droplet"glaze crystals, and slow heating is crucial for texture formation. The precise control of reducing atmosphere is the key to producing different rabbit hair pattern glazes.By adjusting the ratio of air to natural gas,the reducing atmosphere inside the kiln can be directly controlled, which can effectively improve the appearance quality of Jianzhan.[Conclusion]By using natural gas to burn Jianzhan,it is possible to obtain the products that are close to the traditional Song Dynasty's firewood burnt ware, effectively improving the aesthetic and commercial value of the products.
