The Gradual Recovery and Reorganization of the Chinese People's Armed Police Forces(1973-1983)
In July 1966, the public security troops were reorganized into the Chinese People's Liberation Army and continued to undertake the internal security and border defense tasks of the original public security troops.In the early 1970s, with changes in domestic and international situations,the central government began to take measures to gradually restore the armed police force.In October 1973,border inspection stations were transferred to the public security organs and renamed as People's Armed Police.In October 1975,the State Council and the Central Military Commission decided to transfer the county and city squadrons previously under the leadership of various military regions and armed forces departments to the jurisdiction of public security organs,and renamed them the People's Armed Police Squadrons.After the Third Plenary Session of the 11th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China,the reorganization of the Armed Police Forces was comprehensively accelerated.In January 1980,the Chinese People's Border Defense Armed Police Forces was officially established.In August 1980,the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China decided to transfer the internal security force to the public security department.This was an important and crucial step towards the comprehensive restoration of the armed police system.In June 1982, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China decided to reorganize the Chinese People's Armed Police Forces.On April 5,1983,the headquarters of the Chinese People's Armed Police Forces was officially established.This was a major reform of China's armed forces system and a strategic measure to strengthen the national machinery.The construction of the Chinese People's Armed Police Forces entered a new era of sustained and stable development.
