Research on the Volunteers on the Day of the Signing of the Korean Armistice Agreement
On July 27,1953,representatives from North Korea and China and"the United Nations Command"signed the Korean Armistice Agreement in Panmunjom,marking the official end of the three-year Korean War.Chinese People's Volunteers'official newspaper Volunteers published on that day reported on this major historical event in a special issue.It introduced the process of armistice negotiations and declared the great victory of the Korean War.The full front page published the armistice order jointly issued by Marshal Kim Il Sung,the Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army,and General Peng Dehuai,the Commander of the the Chinese People's Volunteers.It provided a brief overview of the main provisions and their contents in the Korean Armistice Agreement and published an editorial calling for resolute support for the armistice order and five articles on the heroes of the volunteers,deeply interpreting the great spirit of Resisting US Aggression and Aiding Korea.The Volunteers was a direct witness and recorder of the great victory in the Korean War.It solemnly declared to the world that the awakened nation that dares to fight for the glory,independence,and security of our motherland would never be defeated.
