Clinical effect of self-made Gedan Kangxian prescription in treatment of patients with advanced oral submucous fibrosis with Qi deficiency and blood stasis:An analysis of 50 cases
Objective:To investigate the clinical effect of self-made Gedan Kangxian prescription in the treatment of patients with advanced oral submucous fibrosis(OSF)with Qi deficiency and blood stasis. Methods:A total of 100 patients with advanced OSF with Qi deficiency and blood stasis were selected as subjects and were ran-domly divided into treatment group and control group, with 50 patients in each group. The patients in the treatment group received Gedan Kangxian prescription, and those in the control group received triamcinolone acetonide;each course of treatment was 7 days, and both groups were treated for 3 courses. The two groups were compared in terms of the degree of maximum mouth opening, pain, oral health status, and clinical outcome before and after treatment. Results:There was a significant difference in overall response rate between the treatment group and the control group[96.0%(48/50)vs 88.0%(44/50),P<0.05].After treatment, both groups had significant changes in the degree of maximum mouth opening, visual analogue scale score, and Oral Health Impact Profile score, and there were significant differences in these indices between the two groups at each time point after treatment(P<0.05).Conclusion:For patients with advanced OSF,Gedan Kangxian prescription can improve clinical outcome, limited mouth opening, and oral health status.
