Clinical effect of Bailing decoction combined with cetirizine hydrochloride drops in treatment of atopic dermatitis in children:An analysis of 30 cases
Objective:To investigate the clinical effect of Bailing decoction combined with cetirizine hydro-chloride drops in the treatment of atopic dermatitis in children.Methods:A total of 90 children with atopic dermatitis were randomly divided into treatment group,control group 1,and control group 2,with 30 patients in each group.In addition to external application of the traditional Chinese medicine Shenhuang lotion,the patients in the treatment group received Bailing decoction combined with the Western medicine cetirizine hydrochloride drops,those in control group 1 received cetirizine hydrochloride drops alone,and those in control group 2 received Bailing decoction alone.After 2 and 4 weeks of treatment,the three groups were compared in terms of eczema area,Eczema Area and Severity Index(EASI),Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)score,traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome score,and safety.Results:The treatment group had a significantly higher overall response rate than control groups 1 and 2[93.33％(28/30)vs 76.67％(23/30)and 83.33％(25/30),P＜0.05].After 2 and 4 weeks of treatment,all three groups had reductions in EASI,VAS score,and TCM syndrome score,which were statistically significant in all except control group 1 after 2 weeks of treatment,and there were significant differences between the treatment group and control groups 1 and 2 in these indices(P＜0.05 or P＜0.01);however,no significant differences were found between control groups 1 and 2(P＞0.05).The recurrence rate was 8.00％(2/25)in the treatment group,25.00％(4/16)in control group 1,and 10.00％(2/20)in control group 2,with a significant difference between the treatment group and control group 1(P＜0.05).There was no significant difference in adverse reactions between the three groups(P＞0.05).Con-clusion:Bailing decoction combined with cetirizine hydrochloride drops has a better clinical effect than Western med-icine or traditional Chinese medicine alone in the treatment of atopic dermatitis in children and can effectively allevi-ate skin lesion and pruritus and reduce recurrence rate,with a favorable safety profile.
