Clinical effect of modified Xiongqi Huayu Zhitong decoction in treatment of tension-type headache with Qi deficiency and blood stasis:An analysis of 50 cases
Objective:To investigate the clinical effect of modified Xiongqi Huayu Zhitong decoction in the treatment of tension-type headache(TTH)with Qi deficiency and blood stasis. Methods:A total of 100 TTH patients with Qi deficien-cy and blood stasis were divided into treatment group and control group using a random number table, with 50 patients in each group. The patients in the control group received oral administration of pregabalin capsules, while those in the treatment group received modified Xiongqi Huayu Zhitong decoction in addition to the treatment in the control group, and the course of treatment was 4 weeks for both groups. The two groups were compared in terms of clinical outcome, headache attacks,tradi-tional Chinese medicine(TCM)symptom score, cerebral hemodynamics, quality of life, and adverse events. Results:There was a significant difference in overall response rate between the treatment group and the control group[96.00%(48/50)vs 82.00%(41/50),P<0.05].Compared with the control group after treatment, the treatment group had significant reductions in the number of headache attacks, the duration of each headache attack, the degree of pain,TCM syndrome score, and blood flow velocities of the middle cerebral artery, the posterior cerebral artery, and the anterior cerebral artery,as well as a signifi-cant increase in quality of life score(P<0.01).There was no significant difference in the incidence rate of adverse events between the treatment group and the control group[4.00%(2/50)vs 8.00%(4/50),P>0.05].Conclusion:For TTH pa-tients with Qi deficiency and blood stasis, modified Xiongqi Huayu Zhitong decoction can improve clinical outcome, correct abnormal cerebral hemodynamics, reduce headache attacks, and improve quality of life, and it is safe and reliable.
