Clinical effect of fumigation-washing therapy with Wenjing Tongluo prescription combined with mecob alamin in treatment of chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy:An analysis of 30 cases
Objective:To investigate the clinical effect of fumigation-washing therapy with Wenjing Tongluo prescription combined with mecobalamin in the treatment of chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy(CIPN).Methods:A total of 60 patients with CIPN were enrolled as subjects and were randomly divided into treatment group and control group, with 30 patients in each group. The patients in the control group were given oral administration of mecobalamin, and those in the treatment group were given fumigation-washing therapy with Wenjing Tongluo pre-scription in addition to the treatment in the control group. The two groups were compared in terms of the grade of neuro-toxicity,European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire-CIPN twenty-item scale(EORTC QLQ-CIPN20)score,and Karnofsky Performance Status(KPS)score before and after treatment, and overall response was assessed. Results:There was a significant difference in overall response rate between the treatment group and the control group[96.67%(29/30)vs 80.00%(24/30),P<0.05].After treatment, both groups had a significant reduction in EORTC QLQ-CIPN20 score and a significant increase in KPS score, and the treatment group had significantly greater improvements than the control group(P<0.05 orP<0.01).No obvious adverse events were observed in either group.Conclusion:Fumigation-washing therapy with Wenjing Tongluo prescription combined with o-ral administration of mecobalamin can alleviate clinical symptoms and improve the quality of life in patients with CIPN.
