Clinical effect of Qiyu Jiangtang ointment in prevention and treatment of early-stage diabetic lower extremity atherosclerotic disease:An analysis of 62 cases
Objective:To investigate the clinical effect of Qiyu Jiangtang ointment in the prevention and treatment of early-stage diabetic lower extremity atherosclerotic disease(LEAD)with deficiency of both Qi and Yin and obstruction of collaterals. Methods:A total of 124 patients with early-stage diabetic LEAD with deficiency of both Qi and Yin and obstruction of collaterals were divided into treatment group and control group using a random number table, with 62 patients in each group. The patients in the control group received conventional Western medi-cine treatment, and those in the treatment group received Qiyu Jiangtang ointment in addition to the treatment in the control group. After 12 weeks of treatment, the two groups were compared in terms of overall response, total traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome score, total cholesterol(TC),low-density lipoprotein(LDL-C),fasting blood glucose(FBG),HbAlc,and ankle-brachial index(ABI).Results:The treatment group had a significantly higher overall response rate than the control group[95.16%(59/62)vs 80.64%(50/62),P<0.05].After treatment, both groups had significant reductions in total TCM syndrome score,TC,LDL-C,FBG,and HbAlc and a significant increase in ABI,and the treatment group had significantly greater changes than the control group(P<0.05).Con-clusion:Qiyu Jiangtang ointment has a marked clinical effect in the prevention and treatment of early-stage diabetic LEAD with deficiency of both Qi and Yin and obstruction of collaterals and thus holds promise for clinical applica-tion.
