Clinical effect of Yiqi Jiedu prescription in treatment of oral mucositis after radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma:An analysis of 59 cases
Objective:To investigate the clinical effect of Yiqi Jiedu prescription in the treatment of oral mu-cositis after radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma.Methods:A total of 120 patients with oral mucositis after ra-diotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma were enrolled and randomly divided into treatment group and control group,with 60 patients in each group.One patient in the treatment group and two patients in the control group with-drew from this study due to personal reasons,and finally 59 patients in the treatment group and 58 in the control group were included for analysis.In addition to basic treatment,the patients in the treatment group received Yiqi Jiedu prescription,while those in the control group received Kangfuxin liquid.The two groups were compared in terms of the duration and grade of oral mucositis,Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)score,immune factors,inflammatory factors,the concentration of epidermal growth factor(EGF)in saliva,quality of life score,and adverse reactions,and clinical outcome was assessed for both groups.Results:There was a significant difference in overall response rate between the treatment group and the control group[98.31％(58/59)vs 81.03％(47/58),P＜0.05].After treatment,both groups had significant changes in the duration and grade of oral mucositis,VAS score,immune fac-tors,inflammatory factors,the concentration of EGF,and quality of life score,and there were significant differences in these indicators between the two groups after treatment(P＜0.05).No obvious adverse reaction was observed in either group during treatment.Conclusion:Yiqi Jiedu prescription has a good clinical effect in the treatment of oral mucositis after radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma and can significantly improve the grade of oral mucositis,VAS score,and quality of life,increase the concentration of EGF,promote the healing of oral mucositis,and effec-tively shorten the duration of oral mucositis,possibly by inhibiting local inflammatory response and improving im-mune function.
