Analysis of plague surveillance in Midong district of Urumqi from 2013 to 2022
Objective To understand the epidemic status, main hosts and vectors population structure of plague animals in Midong district plague foci area in Urumqi, and provide scientific basis for formulating plague prevention and control measures. Methods The data of plague surveillance were collected and arranged in Midong district from 2013 to 2022.The surveillance results of host and fleas of vector and the laboratory detection results were analyzed with descriptive epidemiological methods. Results The average density of big gerbils was 11.14/hm2 in Midong district from 2013 to 2022.A total of 1 739 big gerbils were captured and examined with the flea infection rate of 92.08%.Totally 791 holes were investigated, with the flea infection rate of 27.69%in the holes, and the index of flea was 3.36.There was statistical difference among the flea infection rates in the holes in different year(x2=40.869,P<0.01).A total of 2 846 rat organ samples were detected, and 5 strains of Yersinia pestis were isolated. All 27 894 rat fleas and cave fleas were detected, and 3 strains of Yersinia pestis were isolated. There were 154 serum samples detected positive for plague Fl antibody in all 1 721 serum samples of big gerbils, with the positive rate of 8.94%.Conclusions The plague continues to circulate in animals in Midong district plague foci, and the risk of animal-human transmission of plague persists. The plague monitoring and emergency response works should be strengthened,so as to strictly prevent the animal-human transmission of plague.
