Flood Impact Assessment Study for the Reconstruction of the Pihang Canal Cross-River Bridge Project
The flood impact assessment is of significant importance for ensuring the flood safety of the river channel and the structural safety of the cross-river bridge. This paper,by collecting hydrological data at the site of the Pihang Canal Cross-River Bridge, combines hydrological analysis manuals and regulations to provide a comprehensive analysis and demonstration of the flood impact on the bridge, considering aspects such as design floods, water blocking, flood carrying capacity, and riverbed erosion. The results indicate that although the piers of Cross-River Bridge No.1 and No.2 occupy sections of the river channel, their obstruction ratios are all within 6%,resulting in minimal impact on river flow, flood carrying capacity, and flood safety.By implementing measures such as coordinated bank slope excavation and compensation width, and timely removal of waste materials, the impact of the bridge construction on river flood control and water supply functions can be reduced.
