Design of Water Hammer Protection for Long-Distance Gravity Flow Pipeline System
In order to study the design of water hammer protection for long-distance gravity flow water pipeline systems, based on the theory of water hammer pressure, this paper uses the wave velocity, characteristic equation, and boundary conditions of water hammer waves to establish a water hammer analysis model. The application of this model to calculate different schemes for water hammer protection in the water supply pipeline of Xinjiang Zhundong Wucaiwan Water Supply Project shows that the method of installing double acting air valves, over-pressure relief valves, hydraulic control butterfly valves, and bidirectional pressure regulating towers at the designated positions of the pipeline in Xinjiang Zhundong Wucaiwan Water Supply Project can meet the requirements for water hammer protection. It has certain guiding value for controlling water hammer pressure in long-distance gravity flow water pipelines.
