Research on Defect Treatment Solutions for the Tailrace Channel of Taoyuan Hydropower Station
Taoyuan Hydropower Station is a low-head, high-flow, run-of-river power station built on the alluvial plain at the tail-end of a lake basin. It has a rated head of 5. 6 meters, and the tailwater velocity ranges from 1 to 3 m/s. Recent underwater inspections revealed significant scouring damage to the foundation of the tailrace channel and riverbed, resulting in a continuous decrease in tailwater level, which significantly impacts the safety of the turbine units. This paper draws on the experience of similar projects to research economical and safe engineering measures. It proposes a step-by-step implementation approach to restore the designed shape of the tailrace channel and ensure the safety of the structure.
