Preliminary Discussion on Determining the Scale and Optimizing Water Source Selection for the Qarqan River Irrigation Area in Xinjiang
In Xinjiang,the Qarqan River serves as a core area for agricultural development in Qiemo County and the 37th Regiment of the Second Division.To address the significant issue of a low water supply assurance rate in the irrigation water source projects and to achieve secure agricultural irrigation and enhance rational use of water resources,this paper conducts a study based on an investigation of the irrigation area.Focusing on the optimal allocation of water resources from the Qarqan River,it summarizes and evaluates the main problems in the Qarqan River irrigation area and its water intake projects.The study delves into the layout of water intake sources for the Qarqan River in Xinjiang,assessing the development potential of farmland irrigation scale,optimizing water diversion projects,and researching the scientific construction and development of the modern"Karez"irrigation system.The analysis indicates that maintaining the current irrigation area of 73.12 thousand mu(about 48.75 square kilometers)in the Qarqan River irrigation area can essentially meet the water supply needs for production and living in the area,suggesting the scale of the irrigation area is appropriate.The Qarqan River irrigation area in Xinjiang,based on the regulation of the Dashimen Reservoir,proposes to utilize the tailwater of the Xiaoshimen Tier-Ⅲ Hydropower Station for water transportation.It optimizes the first and second water diversion hubs,the Revolutionary Longkou,Tatirang Longkou,Arelequ Head,and the right bank water source on the east side of the river.Three optimal water intake sources are determined,and the irrigation area is divided into four self-pressure systems,with three on the west bank and one on the east bank of the Qarqan River.This approach can provide a reference for similar regional water intake projects and determination of the scale of irrigation areas,holding significant engineering application value.
