Analysis of the Causes of Water Level Decline in the Downstream River of Xinglong Water Conservancy Project and Countermeasures
Since the operation of the Xinglong Water Conservancy Project, the downstream river water level has dropped by about 2 meters during the discharge of medium and low flow rates, which has affected the normal performance of the project's comprehensive benefits. In response to this issue,three-dimensional numerical simulations were conducted, and a solution was proposed to block the downstream transverse weir gap section up to an elevation of 27.8 meters. The structure of the blocking project was designed, and the key challenges, focus areas, and main control measures for the construction were analyzed. The results show that the implementation of the blocking project did not alter the engineering design standards or safety operating conditions, and it significantly raised the downstream water level, allowing the project to operate normally under design conditions.
