Archaeological Development and Ancient History Writings in New China
Materials and research results of archaeological excavation provide a new path for the construction of ancient Chinese history. In the early 1950s,when all aspects of national construction were in the ascendant,Chinese archaeology developed in an all-round way. When archaeologists constantly reflected on the theoretical connotation of Chinese archaeology, historians also expressed their cognition on the value of archaeological materials, the role of archaeology, and the relationship between archaeology and ancient history construction. In the 1950s and 1960s,Chinese history publications began to use archaeological cultural remains and relics to enrich the narrative content of China's primitive social history. In the 1980s and 1990s,the archaeological circle began to think about the reconstruction of ancient Chinese history as a whole.Ancient Times,Volume 2 of General History of China,Compiled by Su Bingqi, can be regarded as a successful attempt to combine the writings of ancient Chinese history with archaeological achievements.
