Impact of the"Zero-Waste City"Construction on Urban Innovation:Effect and Mechanism
As an important institutional design under the guidance of the new development philosophy,"zero-waste city"is a practical approach to exploring new urban development models and achieving sustainable economic development. This paper uses the DID model to test the effect of"zero-waste city"construction on the innovation level of the city and its impact pathways. The study shows that the construction of"zero-waste city"has significantly improved the level of urban innovation. The results of mechanism analysis show that the establishment of the"zero-waste city"will improve the level of urban innovation by reducing the level of industrial pollution. At the same time, under the support of urban characteristics of high-tech innovation investment and high energy utilization efficiency, the improvement of innovation level is more significant.Heterogeneity analysis of the geographical endowment of cities shows that in resource-based cities and eastern cities, the construction of the"zero-waste city"has a significantly higher capacity to improve the level of urban innovation than that of non-resource-based cities and central and western regions.
