Preparation of Hydrogen Sensitive Palladium(Pd)Thin Film Materials for Fiber Optic Hydrogen Sensors
A chemical plating method was proposed to prepare palladium thin film materials based on fiber cladding. After repeated experiments, the experimental plan for chemical palladium plating was optimized. Before coating, the fiber cladding was cleaned, and sensitization activation(S&A)was carried out in advance to enhance the adhesion between non-metallic substrate materials and palladium films and enhance mechanical strength. The phase structure, surface morphology, elemental composition and content of the film were characterized and analyzed in detail using optical microscopy(OM),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),and energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS).The results showed that the surface of the film was cauliflower like, increasing the surface area of the film and accelerating the rate of hydrogen absorption.EDS analysis showed that the palladium element content of the palladium plated film was about 76%~99%,and the coating effect was good.
