Research on current limiting characteristics of variable impedance superconducting current limiter
Superconducting fault current limiters have shown great prospects in power system short-circuit current limiting. However, the recovery time of resistive type superconducting fault current limiters(R-SFCL)after current limiting is too long to satisfy the demand of reclosing. To solve the problem,a variable impedance superconducting current limiter(VI-SFCL)based on composite superconducting coils is proposed, which can greatly shorten the re-covery time of the main current carrying superconducting tape while increasing the current limiting rate.Based on the experimental results of a single superconducting tape,R-Q simulation models of a single superconducting tape and a VI-SFCL were established in Simulink. The current limiting and recovery performance of the VI-SFCL were analyzed, and the accuracy of the simulation results was verified through experiments. Finally, the effects of the variable imped-ance superconducting current limiter were analyzed in a 10 kV AC power system. The results show that when the par-allel quantity between flowing branch and limiting branch is 2∶1,the current limiting impedance of VI-SFCL can be increased by more than three times that of conventional R-SFCL,which can improve the stability of the power system.
