Transient Analysis and Practical Identification Method for Inter-Turn Short Circuit of Induction Motors
Inter-turn short circuit is a common fault type of induction motors(IMs),which may cause short circuit be-tween phases or phase-to-ground,seriously affecting system stability.This study analyzes transient characteristics of sta-tor current,electromagnetic torque,and speed with inter-turn short circuit model.The influence of fault branch resistance and short-circuit winding coefficient on fault current are studied.On this basis,a practical identification method for inter-turn short circuit based on current vector is proposed.Finally,experimental validation is performed with a 1600 kW IM.
