Short-circuit Current-based Identification of Protective Relay Maloperation in 10 kV Grid Lines
Most of the conventional methods for identifying protective relay maloperations in 10 kV grid lines are designed using LVRT criteria, and are problematic owing to significant constraints, low recognition recall, and inadequacy in re-ducing occurrence of maloperations. In view of this, the present work studied the identification of protective relay malop-erations for 10 kV grid lines using short-circuit current. The method first obtains working conditions of protective relays in 10 kV grid lines and suppresses extent of maloperations'impact by calculating lines'short-circuit current values. It then calculates time-varying probability of the protective relay and realizes identification of maloperations. The application of the proposed method was indicated by experimental analysis capable of achieving a recall rate always higher than 98%for maloperation identification, which means a more sensitive identification utility and consequently helps to reduce the occur-rence of maloperations.
