Study on Excessive Vibration of Recirculation Water Pumps in a Third-generation Nuclear Plant
This paper focuses on a case defect of excessive vibrations observed on an actual recirculation water pump and its connecting pipes during the commissioning test in a third-generation nuclear power plant. It reports causal search and analysis of the defect by measuring vibration of the pump and its connecting pipes, and the countermeasures proposed and implemented including replacing the defective pump, installing a high stiffness bracket, and adding high-level exhaust in the pipeline. The treatment of the case defect effectively reduced vibration of the recirculation water pump and its connect-ing pipes, thereby satisfying the plant's requirement and ensuring safe operation of the equipment.
