Overview of Power Quality Issues and Control Strategies in the Environment of Distributed Sources
The increasing prevalence of distributed sources poses great challenge to power quality in low-voltage and medium-voltage distribution systems, which has become an urgent problem. The grid connection of renewable energy systems is mostly realized through power electronics such as inverters, making electric supply of grids susceptible to power quality problems and consequently affecting duration and efficiency of electrical equipment. In addition, due to the existence of inductors and capacitors, some harmonics undergo series or parallel resonance, which further leads to voltage fluctuations.Through critical discussion of the aforementioned problems, this paper provides useful information for studies on power quality problems.
