New Perspective on Determining Core Number of Distribution Cable for Low-voltage Motors
Currently both 4-cores (3-phase +1 PE)and 3-cores (3-phase)cable are used for power distribution of low-voltage motors. In which to our knowledge there was no standard basis for the use of 3-core cable Until the presence and in force of GB 50217—2018 standard for design of cables of electric power engineering. This standard for the first time put forward the expression that 3-core cables should be used for low-voltage motor distribution of TN-S system, and clarifies the possibility of using 3-core cables when specific conditions are met. Through the elaboration of the cable selection prin-ciple and the interpretation of the GB 50217 standard, this paper discusses the selections of multi-core cable for low-volt-age motor distribution under different conditions.
