On-site Partial Discharge Detection Method for 550 kV GIS and Its Application
With the gradual increase in the number of GIS equipment put into operation, faults caused by the defects of the equipment itself occur frequently. Partial discharge (PD)measurement is the most convenient and effective method to de-tect GIS defects. In order to determine the best matching rule between real PD and artificial pulse,so as to verify the sen-sitivity of UHF PD detection method, this study was focused on 550 kV GIS. Metal particle model was selected as the calibration 5 pC model to acquire a steep pulse signal at a calibrated 5 pC. The acquired signal was injected into the built-in UHF sensor for measurement. The proposed method was then verified capable of acquiring internal signal with UHF noise level significantly higher than the standard value, and effective and helpful for accuracy and reliability of the subse-quent implementation of the PD detection for GIS products.
