Priority Sorting-based Peak Shaving for Microgrids Containing High Proportions of New Energy Sources
Conventional peak shaving methods only focus on electricity demand and ignore factors such as generation costs and energy types, resulting in unsatisfactory peak shaving utility for microgrids with high proportions of new energy sources. Therefore the present work studies a priority sorting-based peak shaving method specific for this case.First by es-tablishing a mathematical model of a new-energy-source-rich microgrid, the generator units involved in peak shaving dur-ing microgrid operation are determined. Then the power generation units participating in peak shaving are prioritized based on the unit regulation capacity, and the output of the units is controlled according to the priority ranking results, thereby achieving peak shaving of the microgrid. The experimental results show that the designed method has obvious peak shaving utility as it reduces daily load peak valley difference of new-energy-source-rich microgrid by 405.79 kW compared to the value with no peak shaving.
