Study on Extension and Transplantation Method of Multiple Rates for Smart Electricity Meters
The method of extending and porting smart meters from multiple rates was studied to meet the constantly changing energy billing needs.First the basic principles and functions of smart meters were reviewed,as well as the com-monly used multi rate billing structures.Then a porting method was proposed to extend smart meters from existing multi-ple rate to more rate levels.This includes technical steps such as hardware upgrades,firmware updates,database up-dates,user interface updates,and communication protocol updates.Finally detailed discussions were carried out on each step and corresponding implementation suggestions and precautions were proposed.
