Study on Electrochemical Descaling Technology of Equalizing Electrodes in HVDC Converter Valve Cooling System
Equalizing electrodes are key equipment in cooling systems of HVDC converter valve. The scaling and scale peeling of equalizing electrodes may result in blockage of internal cooling water circulation circuit and even system locking. In view of the low efficiency of conventional manual descaling process, the electrochemical descaling technology of equali-zing electrodes was studied in this work.First the scaling mechanism of equalizing electrodes was analyzed, and elemental composition of the scale sample was clarified.Second a descaling strategy utilizing gas pressure was proposed, which was inspired by the current pulse-assisted descaling adopted for cathode materials of electrochemical devices. Finally the desca-ling utility of the proposed technology was tested, and cleaning solution compositions and descaling efficiencies for scale layers with different thicknesses were determined and analyzed. The results of this work may contain useful information that facilitates high efficiency descaling and cleaning process optimization for equalizing electrodes of HVDC converter valve cooling systems.
