Energy Storage-assisted Power System Primary Frequency Regulation Strategy Considering State of Charge
This paper establishes a model for primary frequency regulation with the participation of battery-based energy storage systems, and proposes a regulation strategy entailing specific control methods independently for the dead band and for the usual band by considering the impact of output fluctuations of renewable energy generations and the constraints by battery state of charge and grid operating condition.Simulation results show that the proposed strategy achieves obvious reduction in frequency fluctuations and recovery of battery state of charge to a better level, thereby overcoming the prob-lem of insufficient frequency regulation ability of batteries with excessive low or high states of charge.
