Traveling Wave-based Fault Location of T-connected Overhead Distributing Lines
Transient traveling wave signals of faults in T-connected overhead distributing lines are susceptive to disturb-ances by factors of noise and line structure, resulting in inaccurate fault location. In view of this the present work made a preliminary attempt to test the utility of an ICEEMDAN and EDO operator-based modulus time difference method.First the Karrenbauer transform was used to decompose the phasor traveling wave component into the mode component.Second the wave time of the mode component was determined by ICEEMDAN and EDO operators to realize the accurate calibra-tion of the fault traveling wave head and filter out the noise component. Then the exact position of the fault point was cal-culated by the line mode, zero mode wave speed and the head time. The feasibility and accuracy of the proposed method were analytically verified by PSCAD/EMTDC simulation.
