Case Study on Short-circuit Fault Handling and Structural Optimization of 6 kV Cast-resin Insulated Busway in a Coal Fired Plant
There had been found certain hidden dangers in the design of the 6 kV cast-resin insulated busway of an actual thermal power plant,as its protective cover and expansion joint mechanism are inadequate for long-term outdoor operation under southern coastal environment. This paper reports the efforts made to maintain operation of the busway and ensure reliability and stability of the unit's power output, which entailed analyzing the causes of twice short-circuit faults and con-ceiving potential solutions, with an emphasis on the study and implementation of structural optimization for the expansion joint mechanism.
