Development of a New Type of Live-Line Removal Tool for Drain Wire Removal
Live-line removal of drain wires refers to the process of dismantling the drain wires from the branching lines without interrupting power supply or with short-term and localized load disconnections at the load end.The traditional method using insulated rods for live-line removal of drain wires typically involves cutting the drain wires with insulated scissors, leaving behind remnants of leads and clamps on the conductor. These remnants impair the aesthetics and mainte-nance quality of the overhead lines.Furthermore, the residual clamps are prone to rusting and falling, posing safety haz-ards of falling objects that could injure personnel. The exposed remnants of clamps and leads can also lead to equipment safety hazards such as short circuits and grounding, affecting reliable power supply. To thoroughly remove the residual clamps and drain wires during live-line removal projects,a new type of live-line working tool for drain wire removal has been developed. This tool can safely and efficiently complete live-line removal of drain wires without leaving any remnants on the conductors, thereby enhancing the operational safety and performance levels of the lines.
